I love this book; surprisingly, it's the only book by Baum I really enjoy. It combines nonsense and fey-lore into something definitely worth reading. If you like the Spiderwick books, Sisters Grimm, 13 Curses, or really anything having to do with faerie magic, I deeply recommend this book/5(5). He eventually wrote a piece about his war with the woodchuck and others about his gardening, which began his first book, Second Nature: A Gardener’s Education, published in In , he and his wife, painter Judith Belzer, decided they could afford to quit their jobs and live off writing and painting if they moved full time to Connecticut.

I think the Junior Woodchuck Manual (better known as the Junior Woodchuck Guidebook) would qualify [as a rational alternative for the Bible]. It's non-religious (at a guess) It's written by, for and about ducks It's comprehensive (I don't recall an instance when the Junior Woodchucks failed to find an answer to a question using the Guidebook). Think about it: just because a woodchuck could chuck a certain amount of wood, it does not logically follow that the woodchuck would chuck the amount of wood that it could, in fact, chuck. The next question we need to answer is if a woodchuck actually could chuck wood in the first place.

THINK, WOODCHUCK by plagued by phantoms–a menacing history teacher who seems to be able to read his mind and an old librarian whose books uncannily parallel his warped world-view.
Ian’s towering narcissism, solipsism and paranoia. Edward Maxwell's book "Think, Woodchuck" tells the story about Ian, a year-old Louisiana boy who has lived alone in his parents' house for the last couple of years. The canned food is all used up, the water and electricity are turned off, and Ian's pile of dirty clothes is getting bigger as he works his way through the wardrobe.4/5(4).

AllBooks Review's Lea Schizas writes that Think, Woodchuck is the most chilling novel I have read in quite some time. Subterranean gloom suffuses this creepy tale of the implosion of a deranged mind. Fifteen-year-old Ian lives without electricity or water in a suburban house left to him by his mysteriously vanished parents.
The only other place that you will find branding on the outside of the Woodchuck wood journal is on the lower edge of the back cover. The Woodchuck name, logo, and “Made in the USA” are found here in a place that makes for a nice inconspicuous look, but because its etched in there I think the added texture makes it look pretty cool.
